Sat Sri Akal (ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ) -New Punjabi Movie

Sat Sri Akal (Punjabi: ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ; pronunciation: sət sriː əkɑːl About this sound listen (help·info)) is a greeting in the Punjabi language used mostly by the followers of the Sikh religion. Sat means "truth", sri is an honorific word and Akaal (or Akal) means "the timeless being, God"; thus the phrase can roughly be translated as "God is the ultimate truth". Sat Sri Akaal is exclusively used by Sikhs to greet each other, as their tenth master gave them the jaikara, "Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akaal". The saying implies that the one will be blessed eternally who says that God is the ultimate truth.[1] In contrast, Punjabi Muslims living in the Western Punjab (Pakistani Punjab) use the Muslim greeting "As-salamu alaykum", and Punjabi Hindus use "Namaskar" or "Namaste".[citation needed] Punjabi Hindus also use "Sat Sri Akaal" to reply to a Sikh's "Sat Sri Akaal".[citation needed] "Sat Sri Akal" is used by Sikhs throughout the world when greeting other Sikhs, regardless of their native language.[citation needed] For instance, two members of the Punjabi Diaspora who exclusively speak English may still greet each other with this blessing, although this is not universal. The saying is also the only formal greeting in the Punjabi language.[citation needed] The usage of Sat Sri Akal as a greeting, although used by the majority of people who identify themselves as being Punjabi Sikh, is regarded as incorrect usage by Amritdhari (Baptized) Sikhs, as the term is historically the second half of the Sikh war cry, "Bolay So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal", and is still used in the same way. As per the Sikh Rehat Maryada, or Code of Conduct, Amritdhari Sikhs greet each other with "Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh", meaning "The Khalsa belongs to the Lord God! so the victory belongs to God!

Sassi Punoo - Punjabi Full Movie

Sassui Punhun:
ਸੱਸੀ ਪੁੱਨੂੰ, Sassi Punnun), is a famous folktale of love told in the length and breadth of Sindh. The story is about a faithful wife who is ready to undergo all kinds of troubles that would come her way while seeking her beloved husband who was separated from her by the rivals....

Punnu
Mir Punnhun Khan (Mir Dostein Hoth) is the son of Mir Aali, son of King Mir Hoth Khan, ancestor of the Hoths, a famous Baloch tribe in Balochistan. King Hoth was son of Mir Jalal Khan, ruler of today's Balochistan (Pakistan) region in the 12th Century, and father of Rind, Lashari, Hoth, Korai and Jatoi.

Sassi
Sassui was the daughter of the Raja of Bhambore in Sindh (now in Pakistan). Upon Sassui's birth, astrologers predicted that she was a curse for the royal family’s prestige. The Raja ordered that the child be put in a wooden box and thrown in the Sindhu. A washerman of the Bhambore village found the wooden box and the child inside. The washerman believed the child was a blessing from God and took her home. As he had no child of his own, he decided to adopt her.

When Sassui became a young girl, she was as beautiful as the fairies of heaven. Stories of her beauty reached Punhun and he became desperate to meet Sassi. The handsome young Prince therefore travelled to Bhambore. He sent his clothes to Sassi's father (a washerman) so that he could catch a glimpse of Sassi. When he visited the washerman's house, they fell in love at first sight. Sassui's father was dispirited, hoping that Sassi would marry a washerman and no one else. He asked Punnhun to prove that he was worthy of Sassui by passing the test as a washerman. Punnhun agreed to prove his love. While washing, he tore all the clothes as, being a prince, he had never washed any clothes; he thus failed the agreement. But before he returned those clothes, he hid gold coins in the pockets of all the clothes, hoping this would keep the villagers quiet. The trick worked, and Sassui's father agreed to the marriage....

Punnhun's brothers.
Punnhun’s father and brothers were against his marriage to Sassui (Punnhun being a prince and she being a washerman's daughter) and so, for their father's sake, Punnhun's brothers traveled to Bhambore. First they threatened Punnhun but when he didn't relent, they tried more devious methods. Punnhun was surprised to see his brothers supporting his marriage and on the first night, they pretended to enjoy and participate in the marriage celebrations and forced Punnhun to drink different types of wines. When he was intoxicated they carried him on a camel’s back and returned to their hometown of Kech.

The lovers meet their end
The next morning, when Sassui got up, she realized that she was cheated. She became mad with the grief of separation from her lover and ran barefoot towards the town of Kech Makran. To reach it, she had to cross miles of desert. Alone, she continued her journey until her feet were blistered and her lips were parched from crying "Punnhun, Punnhun!". The journey was full of dangerous hazards. Punnhun’s name was on Sassui's lips throughout the journey. She was thirsty, there she saw a shepherd coming out of a hut. He gave her some water to drink. Seeing her incredible beauty, he tried to force himself on Sassui. Sassui ran away and prayed to God to hide her and when God listened to her prayers, land shook and split and Sassui found herself buried in the valley of mountains. When Punhun woke in Makran he could not stop himself from running back to Bhambore. On the way he called out "Sassui, Sassui!" to which the shepherd told Punnhun the whole story. Then Punnhun also lamented the same prayer, the land shook and split again and he was also buried in the same mountain valley as Sassui. The legendary grave still exists in this valley...

Maula Jatt - Punjabi Movie

Super-hit Punjabi film which forever changed the Punjabi film industry in Pakistan. Maula Jatt/Jutt translates literally to "Lord of The Jutts" however a better translation would be the "Lord's Jatt"
The film is an unofficial sequel to the 1975 film. Wehshi Jatt itself was inspired by an Urdu play "Gandasa" written by Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi which depicts a bloody feud in Gujranwala against the backdrop of rural Punjab.
The panache and script here elevated it from the typical blood feud story of rural Punjab into an often quoted film that traversed the typical demarcation of film as entertainment only. It managed to touch a nerve and identify with not only its time but the psyche of the average Pakistani.
Following the settlement of Maula's family feud in Wehshi Jatt (in case you did not see it he wiped out the entire male blood line save a solitary young grandson), Maula has renounced violence. Makha Natt is caught trying to kidnap a girl. Everybody she turns to for help is scared of Makha except Maula Jatt's sister- in-law Taani.
She calls Maula for help and lo and behold he arrives and decrees that if Makha wants to avoid the fate of being killed by his 'Gandasa' he should marry the very girl he has dishonoured and also marry his sister off to his friend Moodha (for the lolz).
When Makha returns home to plot his revenge, his sister Daro incensed upon hearing how much of a eunuch her brother has become kills him on the spot and has his body thrown to the vultures.
The Natt clan now try to avenge the humiliation that Maula Jutt has caused them while Maula Jutt keeps on antagonising them by reminding them that he will come to collect their sister as his friends bride :)
The film revels in it's use of wit, grand statements of masculinity but above all in the celebration of the vindication of masculinity through violence.

Classic quotes
Nawan aaye eiy Soniye (Are you new here, handsome?)
Jey Mauley nuu Maula ney maarey tey maula nein marda (Unless a Maula kills another Maula, he cannot be killed)

Angrej Punjabi Movie HD

Angrej Movie Story....
Talking about Angrej, Amberdeep said, “I used to wonder how a typical Indian wedding would look like in ancient Punjab. Those were the days when the baraat would arrive three days prior to the wedding and all thebaraatis would visit the bride except the groom. The culture, the food, the joy, everything I wanted to show to the youth of today.” Amberdeep knew from day one that the character of the protagonist would suit Amrinder Gill. Although there were some changes made on the set as per the director’s visualization, Amberdeep takes it normally. He said, “Everyone has his own way of perceiving things and so happens on the set of every film. But the final result here is absolutely close to what I had visualized. The film looks superb.”
As Angrej means an Englishman, Director Simarjit tells the reason behind this title, “In older times, when someone out of the village used to think ahead of times, he was given this name. Our protagonist also is talking about loving and dating a girl which, in those times, wasn’t something normal. I have seen such culture in the 80s in Punjab and was excited to present that on screen. We went to the roots of it and our Production Designer Raashid Rangrez gave us a lot of suggestions about the colors, clothes, structure of the frame, etc.”The director also points out that one has to be over 1000 times careful while making a period film. From a pin to a plane, the team of the film was very particular about various things in the frame.
The producers of the film wanted to bring out the best in limited time. All of them are very thankful for the cooperative director, actors, designers and the whole crew who summed the project up in almost 40 days.
Singing heartthrob Ammy Virk is all excited about the film and loves the feeling of such a good start. He said, “It is a period film which is a dream of every actor. Also living the days of Punjab of the 40s is a great feeling. On the set we would do all desi stuff which now is very hard to find even in rural households.”
The lead girls Aditi and Sargun were not so easy to find. After a lot of auditions and screen tests the director could find such talent and the girls have done their job perfectly. They both praised about the whole team and are eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Angrej’.
Meet Raashid Rangrez, the man won the National Award in 2007 for taking us to the 18th century through his art direction in Punjabi film Waris Shah-Ishq Da Waaris. The man is back again to take us to Punjab of 1945. Raashid has handled the overall production design for this film which includes art direction as well as the costumes. The film was immediately planned and Raashid could not get much time to research on it. He consulted some books and references and out of his own experiences he could create a Punjab of pre-independence era. He told, “We had to establish the geography of a Punjab which wasn’t really green that time. The colors had to be very earthy and also the costumes had to be very simple and most importantly handmade. Yes we have used all handmade costumes in the movie.”
Once again, the magic of Jatinder Shah’s music is ready to take you to another world. The world of 1945 Punjab when loving someone was not so easy. But ‘Angrej’ makes a difference and he will make you dance. The album has seven songs for which Vinder Nathumajra, Happy Raikoti, Jaggi Jagowal and Shweta Saira have penned the lyrics. It is a mix of happy, sad, dancing numbers which go perfectly with the periodic theme of the film. Jatinder Shah said, “We have tried to be as traditional as we could. My musicians and percussionists performed with their understanding of the pre-independence era of Punjab. The singers have given the songs a different touch to make it match the storyline.”
